Star Wars®: The Force Unleashed™ App Reviews

I really want to play this game.

I bought the download a number of months ago on my late 09 macbook (unibody). After it finally downloaded, I went ot play it but everything was super laggy and in slow motion. It was terribly unresponsive and all but unplayable. I didn’t want to leave a review at that time thought because I figured that it might be because my computer was a little older and slower. Today, I got a new MBP and downloaded the game and it is still doing the exact same thing on a newer machine. Not too stoked about this game. The graphics are awesome and I was really excited to play it but it’s just a waste of money and hard drive space so far. I hope there is some kind of fix for this. Otherwise, I really want my money back. M@

Poor gameplay, neat effects - buy another game

Having Played Jedi Academy and Knights of the Old Republic, the Force Unleashed is definitely the worst. There’s a significant lack of polish in the sense that the came is inconsistent. You can pick up a certain type of item and throw it, but other places on the same level that same type of item is non-interactive. The map borders, which determine where you can go, are not visually consistent. It often looks like you’d be able to go that way but there’s an invisible wall stopping you. Boss fights are also very frustrating because the perspective holds at a distance and still, like sitting in a theater, with your character running around on stage. Lining up for attacks or dogging the boss is very unpleasant. The game feels poorly finished - like it needed more work but they were on a deadline or like a cheap console game. For a much better Star Wars game, play one of the Jedi Academy series or Knights of the Old Republic. Both are dramatically better. Deus Ex: Human Revolution is another very well made game if you like this style, and BioShock Infinite is pretty good although dramatically more violent than any of the other games mentioned.

Another one…...

Yet another game that only crashes after spending two hours downloading it, thanks for that again Apple….

Great Game!

Before I bought this game, I read the reviews and decided to go for it despite all the negative comments. It runs nicely on a late 2012 MacBook Pro 13", 2.5 GHz intel i5 with little to no lag. At first I had problems (like everyone else here) with the keyboard/mouse controls, but figured it out… You have to launch the game, not pressing ANY buttons during the developer credits at the beggining of the game; then, once you get to the main menu you can use left, right, up, and down arrow keys, enter (return), escape, and [, ] to navigate the menus. Problem solved. Downloading the game generally takes a while considering the file size (25.02 GB) so just be patient. If you have Joystick Mapper you can use a PS3 controller, which works flawlessly as if you were playing the console version of the game. The only REAL problem with the game is that it needs patching in certain areas. It dosent affect the overall gameplay, but its just a little annoying on four certain levels. The game itself is awesome, and I would definetly recommend it to anyone who likes to play Star Wars games!

ugh

My game is not letting me use my keyboard so i think Apple or Aspyr has a glitch with the controls when they coded the Mac Version.

GREAT!

thank you soooooo much for publishing the game i love it!! HIGHLY RECOMEND BUYING!!!!!!

Starkiller Rules

I love the story of Starkiller and Juno Eclipse. The story is fantastic and some of the costumes and other characters you can play as are cool. What ticked me off a little is the fact that there were not as many character to play as like the wii had (Wii has Juno eclipse, darth vader, Phobia, Drexel, and so many more). I think the controls are a little harder to handle than on the wii but it is still a good game. GO STARKILLER! Really wish that this app store would bring around the FORCE UNLEASHED 2.

Having to re install after full installation

I had to re install the whole program after it fully installed. I got a message saying that the game was damaged and that I had to download it again :p.

Best SW game since the early 2000’s

People complain about that controls but I got used to them very fast. The port is pretty stable and my computer runs it just great! Thank you Aspyr to bringing this amazing game (and all it’s extra content) to the Mac OS!! The actual gameplay is amazing and no doubt, one of the best Star Wars games of all time. The extra levels included in the Ultimate Sith Edition are very fun to play and the new costumes are just amazing. Well worth the $20.

good but disappointing

The game was fun but there are a few glitches with some levels. They are completely black

Needs a update

To much glitches please fix, textures showing up black only one resolution that looks okay, the rest put the screen in weird spots on screen.

Love using the force

This game is everything I want it to be. Not sure why people hate on it, but it’s so much ridiculous fun. Plus, works perfectly with a wired XBox 360 controller so now I can play an awesome game on my laptop at work or when I travel. I tried the disc version first and would crash with the controller. The app store version works perfectly with my Macbook Air. If you love Star Wars and action games, this is a must have!

Crap

So this game does not respond to my mouse or keyboard. waste of 5 dollars.

Don’t waste your money. Credits roll after first level?

Something is not right. I started in Tatooine and after 20 minutes of playing through Jabba’s palace, and defeating Boba Fett, it skips to a battle against Obi Wan and Obi Wan’s Spirit… and then the credits roll. I have tried “Load Game” and “Continue Game” after credits roll, and it starts all over again “Long ago……” This is an absolute JOKE! Don’t waste your money. Have run on a maxed out iMac Retina and MBP Retina. Same thing happens. Don’t waste your money, or your time.

No DualShock 3 Support

I’ve been emailing customer support begging them to add the Playstation DualShock 3 controller to this game. All of my other game titles from Aspyr use the DS3 controller beautifully, so the fact that this one forces the user to purchase additional hardware is extrememly baffeling and disapointing. I enjoyed playing this game on my console, but until they add support for the PS3 controller, I cannot play this on my laptop. One star until it’s updated.

Doesn’t load.

Well I can’t review a game if I can’t play it right? The click the icon to open the game and all it does is bounce before disappearing. I get “please delete then reinstall again”. Did that and still doesn’t work.

10.11.2 issue

Apparently after Updating to the latest OS update the app no longer works! Get error message that it can’t be verfied and needs to be reloaded. It was working before.

Super Short Campaign

It took me about 4.5 hours to finish the main campaign, but other than that the graphics were great.
