Star Wars®: The Force Unleashed™ App Reviews

I’ve always loved Star Wars games like Battlefront II (all time favourite PC game) and Bounty Hunter (all time favourite Game Cube game), and I enjoyed this too when I first played it a few years back on the Wii, but found the campaign to be a little too short. I bought it on the Mac App Store when it went on sale and was pleasantly surprised too see that the OS X version of this game is much longer than on the Wii. In terms of gameplay, The Force Unleashed can’t be beat. The lightsaber fighting is epic, the graphics are decent for a four year old game, and the story is really cool, especially for a big Star Wars fan like myself. I love that you can play the camaign as any of a ton of characters from the Star Wars universe, my go to is Jango Fett. I wish Lucas Arts would release more of their games for Mac (I’d love to see the new Battlefront, which looks amazing) because this is easily my favourite game on the platform. Slaughtering Stormtroopers is crazy addictive! Runs beautifully on my 2.3 GHz 8GB RAM i7 MacBook Pro (mid 2012) running on OS X El Capitan. Heads up, if you want to edit the controls, you have to do it in the “Game Settings” icon in the launch window, you can’t do it in game.

Black-colored 2nd generation Xbox360 controller does not work with this game. only white-colored 1st generation one woks with. PLEACE NOTICE THIS before i bought :(

I wanted to like this game, but it’s more like an old console game from the late 80s than anything modern. In particular, it is VERY much not “open world”, you have a narrow linear track you need to follow, and the combat plays more like watered down streetfighter than any respectable RPG. This might be a good game for someone, but not for me. Technically, seems fine. I didn’t see any obvious bugs, but I didn’t play it for very long before I got bored with it.

This game was too laggy and everything i clicked on was late and had to click on multiple times to attack or even move, this computer just had a new harddrive and nothing else is lagging. Please fix this as soon as you can

I like the graphics. But these are the issues I have with the game. 1. After saving the game and then close the app. I think is fine, but when I start this app back up it starts at an earlier point. I don’t like that. 2. There are 8 slots to save games. I do not know of a way to completely remove those slot or to add more. These slots are when saving the games. I don’t like that I can not add or remove those slots. 3. When fighting the main big boss at each level the control of the character isn’t good. You have to play the game to understand. 4. This is not the type of game for me because the next day my hands hurt from all the clicking of the mouse. Since I had to use the mouse so much to play the game, I don’t like that when I have to stop playing the game for whatever reason, I have to start clear at the beginning of a section and not where I saved the game. I like games where I don’t have to click so much. I played this game a few days and hadn’t played it for over a year. Then a few days ago I played it for a few hours on one day and then I remembered why I didn’t like this game. I will hide this purchase because I will not be using it again.

Ergänzung. Ich habe nun ein bischen über 10 Stunden gespielt. Die Grafik und der Ton sind gut. Story scheint ok. Spielen selbst habe ich die größte Probleme mit dem Tastatur. Reine Maussteuerung wurde erheblich besser funktionieren. Supplement I have now played this game for around 10 hours. Graphic and sound are good. Story seems ok. However, I have great difficulty playing this with the keyboard. Mouse control would be considerbly better. Finally, my apologies to Aspeyr Media for the harsh critic to begin with but I was so dissapointed with the results for 16 euro.

Awesome action, Vader is simply an incredible character. Previous Star Wars games prior to this played like on the old school Nintendo with similar graphics. This one is amazing. Although I only have a 2009 Macbook Pro with 2.53 Ghz processor and 8G of RAM it still runs well. A little lag at times, but its livable with till I upgrade to the i7 in a few months… Worth getting it, you wont be dissapointed like with many of the other games in the App store.

so worth it! running 2012 macbook 13". Works flawlessly. Only thing bad is there is no ps3 controller option!! So hard to connect an xbox controller if its not wired

good or not, you deside, but at the level were you need to force pull a ship towards a planet, their is a bug and at one point the indications will say down, but i needed to go up, took me long time to find this (just keep this in mind if you buy, it will save you some time and keep you away from frustration) the game is very good, but the menu otption is very hard to use : you need those keys [ ], wich are not include with the french keyboard (you can still type them ( with <alt + 9> = [ ), to use the game i needed to switch my keyboard to american mode, not nice... when you play you see in front of you as if you were the sith, wich is what i expect from a game like this, but at boses level, the view changes to like a kind of arcade view, you see the battle area from one point of view, this is VERY ANNOYING!!! because i hit/use lightning on the bose, and the realise i wasnt even closely aiming at him p.s. forget my previous review concerning the sith edition, it is truly this one, but to acces the bonus levesl, you need to go to "new game" and chose from the 3 levels, i would had prefer more explenations about that.

On an early 2011 mbp 17" 2.3 i7 w/ 16gb ram it works great, buuuuut after the first time i opened it i had to go into settings->power saving and switch off automatic graphic switching or else the display was totally off. Also i thought it was a little short, i beat it in 2 days, not even playing it all day (maybe 10-11 hrs total) and im not a huge gamer… It could have used a few extra levels. But other than that it was great! interesting even for someone whos not a starwars geek, and good graphics.

You will not be disapointed if you want to unleash the force and destruct everything thats in your way. The storyline is good but not much of quest game either. Cinematics and graphics are good and runs well on my 3.06 Ghz i3 4GB cpu. To unlock 3 extra missions, yo must finish the Force unleashed campaign, then go to NEW GAME, go to an empty slot, PRESS ENTER, and there you go: Hoth, Jedi Temple and Tattoine await you.

The game is great. Its a lot of fun plowing through hundreds and hundred of enemies with the ridiculously overpowered Starkiller. The Force powers make you feel like a Jedi and give you complete control over everything you do. There is one small issue though. My Xbox 360 gamepad doesnt work. Ive got the drivers installed and it works with other games (Shank, Bioshock, Braid, Deathspank, etc.) but it wont here. Aspyr, if you see this, fix it! Its a wired 1st gen Xbox 360 native controller. Works flawlessly apart from that on my 13" 2012 Macbook Pro.

You can see the potenetial of the game but that just makes me regret not having a better system for gaming. The port us super buggy, and there isnt much in the way of support. It really seems like only a superficial job, honestly get the feeling they only did half the work. Its also gets too laggy at some points, but Im only using a Macbook Air (2012). Id say it looks like a good game, but the bugs add too much frustration. Play it on another system if you have a choice. To get a feel for where they are at, check out the support page before you buy.

how long did this game take for others to download. mine taken over a day, and i was just wondering if it took every one else that long.i under stand that the game is 11.2 gb but that does ot usually take my computer that long

amazing game but needs to be compatible with a ps3 controller but otherwise its an amazing game with barely any lag

On the new iMac 27 inch it wont give me the choice to choose a higher screen resolution than 1600 x 900 or 1600 x 1200. Its blurry and I know the imac can handle the high screen resolution for this game. Ive looked a bit online but I cant find a solution.

Would be nice if I didn’t have to use a MICROSOFT Xbox controller on my MAC. This game should be capable of using any kind of controller.
